How to apply your imagination to everything you want to achieve in life.

Sequel to my previous post (read it here), let us see today how to apply your imagination to get everything you need in life.

In my opinion, two variants of imagination exist – active and passive imagination. Let me explain.

In active imagination: an individual has a crystal clear idea, adequately brainstormed, written down, and talked about; then takes action and turns what started as an imagined idea into reality. Look around your house, office, and everywhere. Every object you can see began as an idea in the mind of someone with an active imagination. See what I mean? They were able to turn the imagined idea into a product.

And of course, there are steps and processes between the initial thought and the finished product. Visit my blog here for more articles on what to do and how to do it.

The challenge here, however, is the many ‘voices’ you’d hear in your head. Some people have great ideas. However, other voices like a past traumatic event, hurt, or failure to choose the right ideas stand in the way. Such thoughts would interfere with their thinking.

Someone who has experienced abuse in the past is usually at war between positive active imagination and negative imagination. Negative thoughts would always try to dominate. I have listened to public speakers spend the entire time talking about their abuse as the main message. Such a perspective only reinforces the memories of the abuse and keeps the person in bondage. Other abused listeners need a story of triumph, how the abused speaker overcame. As such, they can receive the courage to move past their hurts.

Passive imagination is when someone with a very bright and creative idea that is crystal clear in their minds sits, talks, and brags about it. But, they never take any action to make it happen. The second group might be those with past hurts. They know deep down that they need to move on. But they choose to dwell on their hurts. They refuse to embrace positive ideas and shift their minds away from their past. Such people enjoy self-pity and refuse to put in the work or go through the processes of realizing their dreams.

In Genesis 11:6 in Babel, men put their imagination to action and started building a tower that would reach the heavens. And no one would be able to stop them. God sabotaged the work by taking away their internal harmony, unity, and oneness of mind and language. And since they could not understand each other, they left the building of the tower and scattered in different directions.

You can align your imagination with your actions. Think, write down your idea, ponder over it and start doing it. It is that simple yet powerful.

Then you will be able to think away from the negative competing thoughts in your mind. And you will take the necessary actions to achieve what you want. If you do so without any conflicting and wavering ideas (James 1:6), nothing will be able to stop your dreams.

So the bottom line is that using your imagination, find, refine and use your God-given gifts to achieve your dreams and live your best life.

What are you going to do? The world is waiting for your impact.
