Are you willing to pay the price?

Hello there. Welcome! Would you agree if I told you that the value of a thing could be determined by its price? Sneakers that respectively cost $100.00 and $10,000.00 are both footwear. Yet they differ in value as suggested by the price tags. If you pay the right price, you get the corresponding product. Think seriously about this for a moment!

The Price

Today let’s talk about the price you may have paid; not for a good or commodity or some luxury item or necessity in your life, but for yourself. Sounds strange? Not really. This price I am referring to does not involve paying money directly; it takes a different form of payment known by different names to different people: hustle; effort; sacrifice; the grind; hard work…and so on.

I believe you read my blog post last week about making yourself valuable; and how doors of opportunity tend to seek you instead of the other way round if your value is high. Read that article again here. Nevertheless, looking back in your life, can you say truthfully that you have paid your dues to make your life better?

Your value as portrayed in your career, in that dream of yours, in exercising your gift, is ultimately determined by the price you are willing to pay. All of the career counseling, coaching advice, books read, motivational messages heard, sermons…won’t make you more valuable if you do not pay the RIGHT price to become a power player in your chosen field. How many hours a day have you set apart to study, practice or engage in activities and conversations around your gift, career or dreams and desires? History teaches us daily that every genuine star that ever existed paid a heavy price to attain their God-ordained destinies.

Compelling examples

It took Jesus Christ an unthinkable price, untold suffering and a gruesome death to reconcile all of mankind to their Creator (John 19: 17 – 37; Matthew 27:32-56; Mark 15:21-41; Luke 23:26-43). It took the children of Israel 40 years and painful battles to finally settle in the Promised Land that was theirs in the first place (Genesis 17). It took Michael Jordan more than 10 hours of daily practice, on the basketball court for years, to become the best in the game; Bill Gates and colleagues took 30 years of consistent hard work to turn Microsoft into the success story we’re all familiar with; Nelson Mandela spent almost three decades in jail, fighting for the liberation of his people. See? Countless examples of human beings like you and I who paid heavy prices to impact the world with their gifts abound.

There is a place of success for you in life. Your Creator could never have brought you to the world to become a failure (Genesis 1:28). Never! Do you know what your problem is? You are not willing to pay the right price to occupy your God-given position in life. I hear some people say that what was destined for them will ultimately come to them. That’s a huge deception and another fat lie that most people have embraced and believed. Nothing will come to you if you are unwilling to pay the price to access what is rightfully yours! Yes! Your Creator expects you to pay the price for your own success (Genesis 2:15), for your destined position in life, because it is your position and you were created for it.

So, what about you?

And, unless you are willing to pay the price, you will not get to your destiny, your promised land. That is the reason why unwritten books, undiscovered innovations, etc. are lying in the graves like the late Dr Myles Munroe used to say. Why? Those who were born with those gifts chose not to pay the price to discover, refine and serve them to the world and they died never doing what they were born to do. Get my point?
