Yank your destiny out of that box!

Think about this

Do you know that it is possible to spend your entire life believing a lie? I’ll show you in a moment. You once had goals that you ought to have worked on and completed by now but, that has never happened because for some weird reason, you believed firmly that it would be impossible for you to achieve those goals. Can you relate? Get ready, to get out of the box.

Today, I want us to talk about a subtle and dangerous enemy of your destiny, capable of posing as a close friend for your entire lifetime. It is the same enemy that has prevented you from working on all the beautiful ideas you have always had. It is the same enemy that ‘convinces’ you each time you wanna work on an idea that you can achieve A but you cannot achieve B. Your enemy is called limitation. Both of you are friends and together you live in a fake mansion known as ‘the box’.

The Box

Let me explain. Limiting yourself no matter the format that your limitation takes, will keep you from becoming your best and excellent self as you were created to be (Psalms 8:5b; Hebrews 2:7). Limitation convinces you always that certain achievements are beyond your reach. It tells you that the box is a safe place.

Limitation helps you justify your inability to accomplish your goals due to reasons like: there is too much on my plate right now, it’s going to be very difficult, I don’t have the means, I have no connections, I have no strong family background, I have no higher education and no certificates therefore no one will take me serious, I don’t have money to invest, there is no hope for the future, I have no one to help me, I am not smart enough, I am not lucky like others out there, and so on. See that? Pondering on such negations helps you to ‘play safe’ and rather ‘cut your coat according to your size’.

Is that indeed true? You decide.

There was a time that human beings believed it was impossible to run a mile in less than four minutes. That proved wrong. There was a general belief that no human being could run 100m in less than 10 seconds but that was proven wrong too. People looked at birds and wondered if humans could fly but man has flown to the moon and back. The examples are endless and if you doubt it, look around the world at what man has been able to achieve.

Case Study

If you have read my book Do Yourself a Favor. Get Up! and Move!, you must certainly have come across the story of the semi-literate Rhoda and her husband Mike in Chapter Two. The couple had all the reasons on earth to feel and think ‘limited’ and trapped in the box; yet they wholeheartedly ignored their limitations and embraced their respective gifts of cooking and music, to create wealth. Rhoda used the help of a local journalist to write a best selling recipe book and the husband Mike, who taught himself to play an old grand piano he received as a gift, introduced the ‘live piano bar’ concept in their business and it worked beyond imagination. They escaped poverty and became wealthy, yanking their destinies out of the box of limitations they were clearly trapped in.

I believe you know someone who has succeeded in life despite obvious limitations. It is not luck. You too can! Limitations tell you that there is no other way to do a thing apart from the one way that won’t work for you. Yet, it is a lie.

So, how exactly can you yank your destiny out of the box? It is simple.

Do this.

Consciously and deliberately, live with the mindset (Proverbs 4:23) that there is always more than one way of getting something done. If you are faced with difficult situations and decisions, applying that mindset as you consider all possibilities to solving the ‘puzzle’ will surely drop answers into your lap. The Book of Life says you can achieve anything (Philippians 4:13) if you have faith (Hebrews 11). The implication is that it is possible to end your sojourn in the box; and if you look at life like a chess board (please check out https://bit.ly/2HyC5r2), you will notice that there is always more than one way of doing whatever you desire to do. Limitations are nothing but a fake state of mind designed to keep you from winning in life. Don’t sell your destiny to a fake box!

There are indeed many ways to skin a cat. Revisit your abandoned dreams and fulfill them. What are you going to do? The world is waiting for your impact!
