Stop sabotaging yourself! How to make sure you do it.

Have you ever experienced this thing that, at some time, you are all fired up to get something done, and then the next moment start feeling like you do not want to do it anymore?

You have an enemy called doubt! Doubt is a state of mind characterized by lack of confidence, a propensity not to accept or believe (in whatever it is you are dealing with), and it interferes with decision making

Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, walked on water when Jesus told him that he indeed could (Matthew 14: 22 – 32). But, after a successful stride on water, he doubted that he could be walking on water and started sinking (verse 30). Gideon, another guy who initially saw himself as a complete nobody, won serious wars with a handful of soldiers after overcoming his doubts (Read Judges 6 – 8).

Can you see, in your own life, those promising activities you started but later abandoned? You may blame lack of funds or resources. But, you stopped your projects because you doubted your ability to accomplish them. Eliminating doubt will allow your star to shine all the time.

Doubt is subtle and powerful, presenting itself as valid reasons not to, rational thinking, realistic thinking, face the facts and stop dreaming, etc. Doubt begins as a tiny thought and grows into a mountain if you entertain it. Doubt will give you all the ‘good’ reasons not to get something done. Doubting your ability to make money may be the reason you are broke!

Why believe in a salary but doubt your power to make more money beyond your wages (Deuteronomy 8: 18)? Doubt is counterproductive and will open doors of poverty to you.

Doubt may be responsible for your skills, talents, and gifts co-existing with an empty bank account! It may be responsible for your business struggling to pick up. Doubt has its claws in your delayed promotion.

Take a moment and reflect on the havoc doubt has brought into your life and your dreams. How can you overcome this monster called doubt?

Renew your mind. Start believing in yourself. Romans 12: 2 teaches that if you renew your mind, you will transform your life. Renewing your mind will destroy doubt. You know there are things you ought to do. But you keep postponing. How can you renew your mind and start that project? Replace your current limiting ideas with new ideas. Read books that have transformed people. My book, Do Yourself a Favor. Get Up! and Move! is one such book. Hang out with the right people and watch TV shows that can add value to your life. Read magazines that can build you up. Above all, read the Bible.

The world is waiting for your impact. Stop doubting yourself and start moving! What are you going to do?
